SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE)

The SHAPE Chapter Planning submissions have earned GMSHRM the Silver EXCEL Awards from 2010 to 2013, Gold EXCEL Award in 2014, 2019 and 2021 and the Platinum EXCEL Award from 2015-2018, 2020 and 2022. As part of our participation in this tiered recognition and awards system, GMSHRM developed the following three key initiatives in order to augment our chapter’s viability and effectiveness.

DIVERSITY:  To increase chapter members’ awareness of programs, events, and resources that assist employers regarding diversity GMSHRM has designated a member of the Board to participate in Diversity CLA conference calls, and provides resources at chapter meetings.  A diverse employee population improves retention, loyalty and productivity in the workplace. Resources available regarding diversity are:

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS | ADVOCACY:  Our goal is to continue to increase awareness of legislative changes among chapter members and provide updates on current events regarding public policy issues related to HR.  Our chapter has designated a board member as a Representative to participate in the Granite State and national legislative advocacy groups.  The Representative attends legislative focused conferences, seminars, and/or workshops to gain valuable and insightful information to share the knowledge and material acquired with chapter members.  As part of our programming for monthly general chapter meetings, we continue to designate at least two chapter meetings each year to focus on topics related to legislative updates.  As part of this initiative our Communications Committee, at the direction of the Legislative Representative,  is distributing SHRM Governmental Affairs bulletins and regional legislative updates/general communications to our general membership.  We continue to devote 15 minutes of the regular scheduled monthly meetings to present any relevant news pertaining to government affairs.  If time permits, the meeting format includes a round table discussion of current events and how employees are responding to new/revised regulations.   When available pdf’s will be posted here for download.

COLLEGE RELATIONS:  The Greater Monadnock Society for Human Resource Management (GMSHRM) continues its efforts to support the college relations initiative.  Monthly meeting notices are now posted in local media publications; in addition to distributing information about the Chapter directly to business management and psychology students and professors.   The Chapter continues to invite students/professors to attend two meetings free of charge.  Beginning in 2012, the Chapter offered free student memberships to those who meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a matriculated college student with a major or minor in Human Resources, Business Management or Psychology;

  • Join a committee within the chapter and actively participate; and

  • Share feedback regarding Chapter experience.

GMSHRM encourages its members to offer HR related internships for local students.  The Chapter invites its members to share their internship needs at monthly chapter meetings or via the Communications Committee (email or LinkedIn®).  Members are also encouraged to post their internships and employment opportunities on JobWISE, an electronic job board at a local college.  Members have also presented to local college classes on topics including resume building, interview skills, and other HR-related topics.
