Session Overview 

This training presents key findings from SHRM's turnover survey and offers recommendations for reducing turnover. The session highlights the top several reasons for employee attrition, including inadequate compensation, lack of career development, and workplace flexibility issues. It also offers practical, low-cost/no-cost initiatives to retain employees and improve workplace culture, such as career pathing, compensation transparency, and flexible work options.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand Key Drivers of Turnover
    Analyze SHRM's turnover survey results to identify the top reasons why employees leave organizations, with a focus on inadequate compensation, career development, and workplace flexibility.
  2. Explore Low-Cost Retention Strategies
    Discuss and provide actionable, low-cost strategies to address turnover issues, including initiatives like improving compensation transparency, career ladders, and flexible work options.
  3. Apply Practical Solutions for Immediate Impact
    Equip HR professionals and organizational leaders with practical tools and approaches they can implement immediately, even with limited or no additional budget, to improve employee retention and workplace satisfaction.

Susan C. Loynd:

Susan C. Loynd, MA, SHRM-SCP is a seasoned HR professional and strategic advisor with over 25 years of experience in human resource and operations management. At The Richards Group, Susan specializes in a wide range of services, including executive search, succession planning, compensation consulting, leadership development, and HR organizational assessments. Her deep expertise is reflected in her ability to develop cost-effective, high-impact retention strategies that align compensation, benefits, and employee engagement with organizational goals.

Previously, as the Director of Administration & Human Resources at Washington County Mental Health Services, Susan led initiatives that supported a diverse workforce of 700 employees. She has extensive experience in managing compensation frameworks, overseeing benefits programs, and facilitating professional development programs aimed at improving leadership and team effectiveness. Additionally, she played a key role in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, ensuring legal compliance and equitable application of HR policies.
