COMMITTEES & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
As an HR professional, you know the best way to become known and get to know others is to get involved. We welcome you to peruse the Committee information below, and contact us if you would like to assist the GMSHRM to enhance your professional network and volunteerism in any of these areas:
Board of Directors: Per the GMSHRM By-Laws, the Board consists of 9-11 members and is responsible for providing an opportunity to focus on current human resource management issues of importance to its members. The board members meet on the first Tuesday of each month, September through June, from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. In July, the board holds its annual planning retreat which is usually a 6-hour meeting, to plan for our next chapter year. Participants can attend the Board meetings in person, virtually, or by phone. Positions on the board have a 2-year term. Our current board members are:

Current Chapter Committees
Membership: The membership committee meets monthly and is responsible for maintaining the health and growth of the chapter. This is accomplished by engaging current membership, by attracting new members through membership campaigns, marketing channels, and networking. Committee members make an effort to meet and greet newcomers and introduce them at GMSHRM events. Average monthly time commitment is 1-2 hours. Our Membership Chair is Chris Swanson.
Programming: This committee is responsible for recruiting speakers for our monthly chapter meetings. Topics span both current and forward trending areas critical to all levels of HR professionals and business leaders responsible for HR functional areas. The committee is always looking for new members and suggestions for new topics and speakers. Average monthly time commitment is 1-3 hours. Our Programming Chair is Ed Coppola.
Certification & Recertification: This committee promotes the benefits of earning the SHRM certification and offers guidance, networking, and resources to prepare for the certification exam. The committee ensures our programs are pre-approved for both SHRM and HRCI recertification credits. Average monthly time commitment is 1-2 hours. Our Certification Chair is Kim Brackett.
Sponsorship: This committee fields inquiries and identifies/contacts potential marketing or sponsorship opportunities for Chapter meetings and website advertising. Average monthly time commitment is 1-2 hours. Ed Coppola oversees sponsorship.
SHRM Foundation: This committee is responsible for educating and promoting the purpose of the SHRM Foundation to our membership. It also includes fundraising for the SHRM Foundation. Average monthly time commitment varies by the number of fundraisers we hold. Our Treasurer Sue Ells oversees the chapters efforts with the foundation.
Communication: Victoria Feyrer manages our website, Twitter account, Facebook and LinkedIn® pages. Victoria oversees the email outreach to our members, press releases, flyers and more. Members can send questions for the chapter to info@monadnockshrm.org and it will be shared with all members.
Legislative Affairs: This committee tracks HR-related legislation and provides information to our membership about important issues on the horizon. The Legislative Chairperson is Erin Dallas-Patch.
Additional Committee Opportunities
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: This committee supports diversity initiatives and programs of SHRM and develops and implements chapter diversity initiatives to try to ensure an open and inclusive GMSHRM. We work with the Diversity Workforce Coalition.
College Relations: This committee manages the college outreach efforts and communicates with local faculty and colleges to provide classroom visits to discuss HR topics, the Chapter, internships and more. Our College Relations Director position is currently open.
Workforce Readiness: This committee recognizes the need for us to become involved with community programs and interests and publicizes GMSHRM's expertise and availability as a resource on HR issues and concerns. Our Workforce Readiness Director position is currently open.
